Where Is Your Love?

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:15-17.

Where is your love? Is it for the things of this world? God tells us that if we love Him we will keep His commandments. Do we love Him, or do we love the world better?

It is often times very painful to give up those things which we desperately desire to cling to, yet they draw us away from Christ. It could be a habit, it could be a hobby, it could even be a grudge; the question to ask is, “Where is it leading my love?”

“…all that is in the world…is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” Can we honestly expect to participate in the ways of this world and feel good about it? We are of a different world, the Kingdom of Heaven. This world is passing away and its desires; is it worth your love? Are you willing to put your love into something that will one day vanish and forever be forgotten?

Where is your love? May it forever be for the Father. If we love Him we will do His will and we will abide forever! If we love the world, the love of the Father is not in us.

Where is your love?

You're right brother. We do need to reevaluate where our love resides. Satan is subtle, he will take hold of our love before we even realized it was gone from the place it should be. He could even have our love when we think it is with the Creator. So we must always be asking the Father if he has our hearts.

EXCELLENT post! I love that verse. And yes, it's so important to stop and think daily where our love is and what our priorities are in life-whether On God, or the things of this world. Romans 8:6 says, "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

Thanks for posting this, and for the great reminder.

Excellent, Excellent post! It is so easy to set our minds and goals on pleasures and things of this world, and take our sights of the Lord, our God. Thank you for the encouragment.

I just found your blog and I love it! We seem to be nearly identical in our intrests and passions! I am so excited because, I was just praying for God to bring like-minded friends into my life. And it would seem as though he answered my prayer through your blog.

In Christ Alone,
Josh
